Since breaking into the financial services industry in 1998 Dan has progressed from planning associate and portfolio analyst to independent financial planner, branch manager and VP Wealth Management for a large Alberta based insurance company before joining RBC in the summer of 2004.
Dan entered the industry out of an intense interest in managing private wealth, and set a professional development plan to take his career in that direction. His wealth of experience in dealing with high net worth clients made it very clear that money management could only be truly effective as an integral part of a more holistic strategic plan – to ensure the management style and objectives are aligned with the client’s goals and needs.
Prior to joining RBC PH&N Investment Counsel Dan was with RBC Private Banking where he lead the country in providing strategic planning and oversight to high and ultra high net worth clients’ personal financial affairs. He has very deep and broad experience with the tax, risk, estate and investment issues of high net worth clients. In that role Dan was responsible for managing more than $650 million in cash, investments and loans for private clients.
Dan now operates as a team member within RBC PH&N Investment Counsel where they implement customized investment strategies for this very diverse and successful client group by developing and maintaining fully discretionary managed portfolios.
Dan has been recognized at a national level by earning the honour of participating in several high-level committees for the Financial Planning Standards Council of Canada focused on the accreditation and professionalization of Canada’s wealth management industry and is a recipient of the Fellow of FPSC award.
