Jeff works closely with Charles Cook to help clients maximize their wealth, reduce risk and ensure their financial plan is working efficiently.
Born and raised in the small town of Carlisle, Ontario, Jeff began his career in the capital markets. As a Bachelor of Commerce graduate from McMaster University, Jeff joined the risk management department in the head office of one of Canada's largest banks. Jeff assumed a management role early and within two years was situated directly on the trading floor. Jeff led a team responsible for North American market risk oversight for all the bank's foreign exchange, commodity and institutional equity trading books. It was in this role that Jeff learned the essentials of portfolio composition and product risk. After successfully completing multiple courses from the Canadian Securities Institute, by 31 Jeff had obtained the professional designation Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), the industry gold standard which distinguishes professionals with in-depth investment knowledge. By 35, Jeff was invited to join the elite Proprietary Trading department—a small team of six traders and portfolio managers responsible for investing on behalf of the bank. There, Jeff managed a large portfolio of positions on a long/short basis while continuing to assist the team in the management of market risk.
After achieving his goals in the capital markets, Jeff joined RBC Dominion Securities in 2013. He works closely with Charles, reviewing current market conditions and conducting capital market research to highlight future stock purchases and determine entry points. His vast knowledge and experience enables him to build and monitor model portfolios to align portfolios and control market risk, and actively trade portfolios as required to protect and take advantage of opportunities as they arise.
