Tonya started her career at Royal Bank in 1997 and in 2000 joined RBC Dominion Securities as Investment Advisor in the Red Deer office. After four years as a successful IA she was invited to join the DS Management Team. She spent the past 20 years in Management in Edmonton, Calgary South, Lethbridge/Interior BC, Calgary North office and in late 2021, she returned to her first team, now much larger, in Calgary South.
Tonya graduated from the University of Lethbridge with two degrees, Management and Kinesiology. She has obtained numerous industry specific courses through the Canadian Securities Institute including: Partners, Directors and Senior Officers Course, OPSC Options Supervisors Course, BMC Branch Managers Course, WMT Wealth Management Techniques, PFPC Professional Financial Planning Course and Financial Management Advisor (FMA)
Tonya was also a Professional NCCP Level III Figure Skating Coach for 20 years as well as a Professional Figure Skater with Ice Capades travelling in North America. The discipline and dedication required in her sport and coaching skills have served her well in all her positions within RBC.
In 2011, 2012, and 2022 Tonya was named Discretionary Branch Manager of the Year for her Region and in 2018 and 2021 she was the Winner for Branch of the Year. She served on the Managers Advisory Board in 2013-2015. She is again proudly serving on the MAB since 2021 and is currently the Chair of the Managers Advisory Board. She also is on the steering committee for the Women’s Advisory Board.
Tonya lives on the outskirts of Calgary and loves hiking in the Rocky Mountains with her daughters, Leah and Taya. During the week she is busy chauffeuring her girls to their many activities!
