We are once again heading into tax season, and as this is a busy time of year for all of us, we thought it may be helpful to share a few important dates and information.
Firstly, the start of the official mailings going out has been announced as Feb 19th for registered accounts and Feb 22nd for non-registered accounts. Mailing dates continue out through to the end of March, depending on the type of mailing. Please head to our website to find up-to-date news.

 

Holtby & Associates Team Update:

We are excited to welcome Denise Gardner to our team as our newest Associate.
Denise has been with RBC DS for over 2 years, and comes with over 17 years of the financial industry experience.

This month Cairy is travelling to New Orleans for RBC DS Director’s Council Trip.
She will be away Tuesday Feb 26th returning to the office Monday March 4th.

Jones, Natel & Denise will be in the office to assist you with any inquires while Cairy is away.

Jones is attending a conference in Vancouver for Wealth Management Associates training the first week of March.
We anticipate he will have some fresh new ideas to bring back from this session.

Natel has returned from a week in Los Cabos. Even though she didn’t bring back the warm weather with her, she is refreshed and recharged, ready for tax season!

 

Office Move Announcement:

As of Feb 25th, we will be at the newest Landmark Building just across the street.

2018 RSP Deadline:

The RRSP contribution deadline for the 2018 tax year is Friday, March 1st. The annual contribution limit for the 2018 tax year is $26,230. If you plan on making an online RRSP contribution, online payments take two business days to process and will need to be sent by February 27 (during business hours) in order to be received for the March 1 deadline. The maximum annual RRSP contribution amount for 2019 is $26,500.

 

eDelivery of Tax Forms

Clients now have the ability to receive and download their tax documents electronically via DS Online. This includes tax forms, slips, receipts or other documentation (including T3, T5, RRSP contribution receipts, etc.) that RBC DS is required to send clients under applicable tax legislation.

If you enroll in eTax, you will no longer receive paper mailings.
To enroll in eTax, clients are required to provide us with expressed consent in writing or switch themselves via DS Online. If you are not registered to view your accounts online please call and we will help you get registered.

 

2019 TFSA Limits:

The 2019 Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA) annual contribution limit has been increased to $6,000. The maximum contribution limit since inception is now $63,500.

 

Income Tax Deadline

Take note that the 2018 personal income tax return filing deadline is fast approaching (April 30th).
