Portfolio Manager
Bob embarked on his career as an Investment Advisor at RBC Dominion Securities right after completing his Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Alberta in 1997. During his early years, he focused on hiring and developing young talent, recognizing the significance of fostering a strong team. In 1999, he was offered a Branch Manager role in Edmonton while continuing to manage his own book of business. This experience allowed him to gain valuable insights into effective business practices and shaped his vision of building a thriving advisory practice.
Today, Bob takes pride in serving as a trusted advisor to families with complex wealth needs, driving revenue growth and spearheading the development of his business, Bessette Wealth Management. He prioritizes the creation of a robust organizational infrastructure and places a strong emphasis on business development. While he remains a key point of contact for clients, he also nurtures a team-focused approach, ensuring a consistent and exceptional client experience across his team.
Bob's passion extends beyond his professional endeavours. As a proud Edmontonian, he actively engages in various community roles, including as former Chair and current Emeritus Board Member for the University Hospital Foundation, and many other committees and initiatives.
Team Operations Manager
Amanda Friesen is a dynamic leader with a deep passion for people, growth, and organizational excellence. With a Bachelor of Commerce in Strategic Management from the University of Alberta and designation as a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR), she has built an accomplished career dedicated to fostering high-performing teams and driving business success.
Amanda joined Bessette Wealth Management in 2024, bringing her expertise in leadership, governance, and strategic development to the financial services industry. She is committed to enhancing operational efficiency, cultivating a strong corporate culture, and ensuring that teams are empowered to deliver an exceptional, client-focused experience.
Prior to joining Bessette Wealth Management, Amanda held an executive leadership role with a national real estate and land development firm, where she led corporate services teams and implemented strategic initiatives to optimize business operations, support performance, and mitigate risk. Her ability to align people and processes with organizational goals has been a key driver of success throughout her career.
Beyond her professional achievements, Amanda is deeply engaged in her community. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Edmonton Down Syndrome Society and mentors aspiring human resources professionals through the CPHR mentorship program. A proud Edmonton native, she continues to call the city home, where she lives with her husband and two children.
Outside of work, Amanda enjoys hosting friends and family, cooking, and traveling.
Associate Portfolio Manager
Scott brings diverse and deep financial expertise to Bessette Wealth Management. As lead portfolio strategist, Scott is involved in all aspects of portfolio management at BWM, including long-term strategic and short-term tactical portfolio construction, manager selection, and all internal individual security selection.
For nearly a decade, Scott was a portfolio manager at one of Canada’s largest corporately sponsored pension funds where he launched a North American small cap equity strategy and was an architect of the portfolio’s investment philosophy and due diligence process for a Canadian large cap equity strategy. Scott was also involved in external manager selection and set strategic and tactical asset allocation across $10 billion in assets under management with the fund’s portfolio management team.
Scott also spent time working in global capital markets across investment banking and institutional equity research. These roles included providing advice to the world’s largest institutional investment funds and to C-suite executive teams looking to raise significant debt or equity capital, or complete mergers and acquisitions.
Scott holds a bachelor of commerce from the University of Alberta and advanced industry designations including Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Business Valuator (CBV), and Chief Compliance Officers Qualifying Examination (CCO). During his degree at UofA, he was selected to the Program for Research and Investment Management Excellence (PRIME), where he managed a portion of the university’s endowment fund. He continues to mentor at the university in several capacities, including in the CFA Institute’s Global Investment Research Challenge, one of the world’s largest case competitions.
Outside of work, Scott spends his time with his friends and family, including his wife and three kids.
Investment Advisor
After managing his own contracting business for 10 years, Tom began his career in the financial services industry in 2012. Prior to joining RBC Dominion Securities, he spent more than six years as a commercial insurance broker, gaining a comprehensive understanding of clients’ unique needs in order to place liability coverage on a wide range of risk exposures. This experience attuned his awareness and sensitivity to risk and shaped his conservative approach to wealth.
In his current role, Tom combines his measured risk mindset with his passion for getting to know each family’s individual circumstances to provide disciplined and truly personalized service. Tom specializes in building tax-efficient wealth management plans with a focus on the preservation of investment capital. Working collaboratively with his extended team of RBC experts, Tom provides access to a vast suite of wealth solutions to help clients secure the financial future they’ve envisioned.
In his free time, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife, son and their dog, including plenty of time outdoors at the dog park. He can often be found cheering his son on at sporting activities and coaching soccer and baseball.
Portfolio Manager & Wealth Advisor
Fiona has a unique ability to form meaningful relationships and understand clients' needs. Her desire to help her clients – in whatever capacity – is of utmost importance to her.
Fiona began her financial career in 1993 as a Private Banker, managing portfolios for high-net-worth clients. She honed her skills in banking and client relations, later becoming a Private Wealth Consultant focused on investment management and estate planning. A decade later, she embraced her passion for managing client relationships as an investment counselor and estate planner across different jurisdictions, including Calgary, Kelowna, Regina, and Saskatchewan. Along with this experience, she achieved designations as a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and Insurance Representative.
In 2014, Fiona joined RBC Dominion Securities. Today, as a Portfolio Manager and Wealth Advisor at Bessette Wealth Management, Fiona continues to excel in relationship management and business development. As a lead for 70 client relationships, she thrives on problem-solving and finds fulfillment in guiding clients through estate planning, risk management, and team integration.
Dedicated to advancing the roles of women in our industry, Fiona is a mentor both within RBC Wealth Management and through the University of Alberta’s Career Mentoring Program. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, travelling, hiking, cycling, yoga, and reading.

With a Bachelor of Business Administration, specializing in Finance from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) accreditation, David brings a strong educational foundation to the financial services industry. Joining the field in 2012, he started as a teller at Servus Credit Union before joining Bessette Wealth Management.
Today, David's primary responsibilities revolve around portfolio construction and trading, where he plays a crucial behind-the-scenes role in ensuring the effective management of our clients' investments.
Hailing from Edmonton, David is deeply connected to his community and finds fulfillment in contributing to the financial well-being of others.
Associate Advisor
With a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta and a passion for financial markets, Harmen embarked on a journey into the world of finance. Growing up in Edmonton, Alberta, he has always had a keen interest in the intricacies of the industry. Holding the esteemed Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, Harmen is well-equipped to navigate the complexities of the financial landscape.
Joining the financial services realm in 2018, Harmen found his calling driven by his fascination with financial markets. His early roles as Jr. Marketing and Pricing Analyst showcased his prowess in data analysis, pricing strategies, and financial concepts execution. In 2022, Harmen joined Bessette Wealth Management.
As Associate Advisor, Harmen’s role is multifaceted. From relationship management to portfolio modeling, investment research, and trading, he ensures the seamless functioning of various investment aspects. Conducting portfolio reviews and addressing client queries, Harmen thrives on the opportunity to learn from successful individuals across diverse industries. Wealth Planning Specialist
Rebecca, a numbers enthusiast hailing from Grande Prairie, Alberta, has built an impressive career in the financial services industry. With an unwavering commitment to her profession, she excelled as a Senior Manager for another major firm, specializing in tax compliance and planning for high-net-worth families and business owners.
In 2016, Rebecca embarked on a new chapter in her career by joining Bessette Wealth Management as a Wealth Planning Specialist. Today, she brings her extensive tax expertise to the table, focusing on estate planning, effective tax structures, intergenerational wealth planning, and business succession planning. Rebecca serves as a vital link between her clients and other wealth management specialists, ensuring comprehensive and tailored financial solutions.
Outside of her professional endeavours, Rebecca dedicates her time to supporting her son's activities in karate, baseball, and hockey. She actively supports her church and charities aiding people in need.
Holding a Business Administration Diploma from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, Barb began her journey in the financial services industry in 1992, drawn by her passion for finance. Over the years, she has continued to enhance her education, completing the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and the Professional Financial Planning (PFP) course.
Her expertise is invaluable and since 2007, she has been an integral part of Bessette Wealth Management, where she continues to excel in client service, coordinating tasks, and serving as a reliable first point of contact. Barb finds fulfillment in providing clients with solutions to their needs and accomplishing their goals, earning their trust and appreciation along the way. Embracing the creative aspects and diverse tasks her role offers, she actively contributes to the growth of our business.
Outside of work, Barb remains actively involved in the community, be it through organized sports and country-western dance, or through supporting various charitable causes like the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation, University Hospital Foundation, and the Ronald McDonald House.
Wealth Associate
Equipped with a strong background in the financial services industry, Michelle excels in operational roles, showcasing exceptional problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills. Her journey started when she joined a boutique firm on Bay Street as branch administrator and discovered her passion for the financial world.
In 2006, Michelle embarked on a new chapter, joining RBC Dominion Securities and eventually becoming part of Bessette Wealth Management in 2012. As an associate, her primary responsibilities revolve around client service, efficiently executing their requests, and providing prompt resolutions to their inquiries. Over the years, she has built strong relationships with her clients, allowing her to witness their financial growth and celebrate their successes.
In her spare time, she enjoys exploring greenhouses, farmers' markets, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Jennifer embarked on her financial services career in 2009, driven by her passion for financial planning and a strong desire to help individuals become financially literate. With a focus on continuous learning and making a positive impact, Jennifer gained valuable experience over the years. She worked in various roles, including portfolio management and client servicing, while also developing a deep understanding of the operational aspects behind the scenes.
Currently, Jennifer plays a pivotal role on our team, where she provides essential support for Bob and his clients. Her primary responsibilities revolve around providing exceptional client service, facilitating daily transactions, and assisting with the management of client contacts. She finds great fulfillment in helping clients gain a better understanding of their investments, building strong relationships based on trust, and delivering personalized service.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Jennifer cherishes spending quality time with her family. As a relatively new resident of Edmonton, she embraces the opportunity to explore the city and province with her family.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Alberta, acquired in 2016, Nahom brings a strong educational foundation to his role. His commitment to excellence is further demonstrated by his completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC). In 2021, he embarked on his financial services journey, leveraging his sales background to ensure client satisfaction.
Since joining Bessette Wealth Management in 2022, Nahom's dedication to client support continues to shine through. His role is centered on ensuring that clients receive seamless service, with a full understanding of all aspects of support that Bessette Wealth Management provides.
Hailing from Edmonton, Nahom is deeply rooted in his community. Beyond his professional commitments, he dedicates time to his beloved dog, Zeus, and his family.
Administrative Assistant
In 2017, Allison embarked on a career switch, diving into the world of financial services. Before that, she managed retail stores, showcasing her knack for adapting to change. She became a part of Bessette Wealth Management in 2020.
As an administrative assistant, Allison handles important tasks like EFTs, bankwires, and client requests. Her role ensures smooth operations behind the scenes. Allison's favourite aspect of her work is getting to know our clients' stories.
Having grown up in Edmonton, Alberta, Allison is rooted in her local community. She actively supports local charities, especially the Ronald McDonald House, as she has seen firsthand the positive impact this facility can have for people who are experiencing tough times.
Armed with a Finance education from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology’s School of Business, Stacy’s passion for numbers, Excel, Word programs, and administrative tasks led her to embark on a fulfilling career in financial services.
Over the years, Stacy has held roles such as Financial Service Representative, Financial Service Manager, Account Manager, and Administrative Assistant. These experiences helped uncover her current niche, which involves assisting clients with their everyday financial needs.
Joining Bessette Wealth Management in 2023, Stacy's role revolves around providing essential administrative support and coordinating team functions. From answering routine questions and managing client interactions, to supporting her team with daily tasks, managing and distributing information, answering phones, and other administrative work, she ensures the smooth flow of operations.
Stacy's favourite part of working with clients is helping them achieve their financial goals. Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, she now lives and works in Edmonton. Beyond work, Stacy values quality time with her family, engaging in travel, hikes, community activities, museum visits, art galleries, and supporting her kids' recreational activities.
Hiba's career in finance began in 2021, shortly after she graduated from the University of Alberta with a bachelor of commerce in business economics and law. Her early experience in retail banking, specifically in branch operations, allowed her to develop a strong ability to connect with clients and provide exceptional service. This foundation served her well as she transitioned into wealth management, where she gained valuable experience in trust and estates before joining Bessette Wealth Management.
In her current role, Hiba plays a vital support function across the business, handling account administration and client service. Her commitment to delivering a superior client experience is evident in her meticulous attention to detail and dedication to meeting clients' needs in a timely and accurate manner.
Hiba was born in Toronto but has developed strong roots in Edmonton, where she spent most of her formative years. Hiba speaks Arabic, reflecting her deep connection to her community, which she nurtures through volunteer work, such as organizing food drives during Ramadan, and spending time with friends and family. Outside of work, Hiba's passions include exploring new restaurants and cafes, as well as hiking and enjoying the outdoors.
