Tanner Philp is a Senior Investment Counsellor at RBC PH&N Investment Counsel where he is responsible for managing private client discretionary portfolios for an exclusive group of high net worth individuals, businesses, trusts and foundations. Tanner has been in the financial services industry for 20 years in various investment, leadership and operational roles.
Tanner is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) and has a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) degree, which enables him to design customized investment portfolios that integrate with his clients’ family, estate, charitable giving and corporate entities. Tanner works closely with tax, legal, insurance and estate planning advisors to deliver an integrated wealth management approach that meets his clients’ needs.
Born and raised in Vancouver, Tanner has deep roots in local family business and in his community, which has provided him with a strong foundation to in turn counsel affluent families, professionals and entrepreneurs on all aspects of wealth management. In managing all aspects of his clients’ investments,
he is able to draw on his extensive experience and network, which includes accountants, lawyers and other investment professionals. Tanner has previously been an entrepreneur and an executive in the venture capital and private equity industry. As a result, he has an appreciation for the complexities of owner-operated businesses, and the challenges of creating, realizing and/or passing on wealth.
Tanner is married with two children, and actively involved in his community. He has been a professional development instructor on wealth management and business succession for the CPA BC, and a contributor to the BC Institute of Chartered Accountants member magazine. Tanner was awarded the 2007 Early Achievement Award from the BC Institute of Chartered Accountants and received Honor Roll Standing on his CA qualification exams (Top 10 in BC). He enjoys road cycling, squash, tennis, wine and food during his leisure time.
