The Luminato Festival Toronto is an international festival dedicated to cross-traditional forms of contemporary art, from music to dance to visual theatre. Maymar is a proud supporter of the festival, which aims to build stronger, more connected communities through creative inspiration.
Maymar’s passion for classical music began early on in his life. Whether he’s painting, drawing, or sculpting, music remains one of his biggest inspirations. A longtime supporter of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Maymar joined the Maestro’s Club in 2010, where his important work includes connecting with members, fostering the community, and attracting new members.
The Canadian Arab Business Council is a non-profit organization that helps both Canadian businesses conduct business in the Middle East and Middle Eastern companies conduct business in Canada. As a Canadian Arab, Maymar recognizes how incredibly important it is to support Canada/Arab business relationships. He proudly served as treasurer from 2017 to 2020 and was Chair of the finance committee from 2021 to 2023. Today, as a board director, he continues to offer his valuable support.
“All children should have access to school and education,” says Maymar. For two consecutive years, Maymar joined the fundraising efforts for Helping Hands Jamaica, an organization that helps educate and builds schools for children in Jamaica. These school buildings can cost up to a few hundred thousand dollars to build, which is why Maymar enthusiastically supports their collaborative fundraising events and has even travelled to Jamaica to participate in the building process.
Maymar never forgets his artistic roots. An avid painter and sculptor, Maymar likes to support other artists in any way he can. As a Curator Circle Committee Member for the Art Gallery of Ontario, Maymar played a significant role in fostering the growing arts community by getting to know other members and participating in special events designed to attract new members.
