Daniel founded The McCartney Group with a simple vision – to create a transparent, respectful wealth management firm that puts your needs first. With the dedicated support of April, he puts that vision into action every single day, working tirelessly to provide the highest level of service imaginable.
Senior Portfolio Manager & Wealth Advisor
Daniel was born in the United Kingdom and immigrated to Canada in the mid-’70s with his mother. It was from her that he developed his passion for finance while she worked at a retail bank branch – a position that she stayed at for 30 years.
While studying economics at Carleton University, Daniel also worked part-time at the bank branch on campus. This education, both inside and outside of the classroom, led to him being hired by the bank’s investment arm and was the catalyst for what has been a successful career now spanning almost three decades.
Before joining RBC Dominion Securities in 2006, Daniel held senior leadership positions in the wealth management divisions at some of Canada’s leading bank-owned advisory firms. With 25 years of experience mentoring advisors and safeguarding portfolios, Daniel leverages a truly unique industry background when providing wealth management solutions and ongoing compassionate advice to his clients.
Committed to ongoing education and development, Daniel has expanded his skills with numerous industry courses, certificates, and designations. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FSCI) and a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM). He is incredibly passionate about giving back to the community around him, as evidenced by his 20-year tenure on the board of directors for the Community Foundation of Mississauga, where he received a Civic Award of Recognition for his contributions.
Daniel and his wife of over 20 years, Heather, reside in Southeast Oakville. Outside of the office, Daniel loves to spend time with his two children, both students at the University of Western Ontario, is an avid amateur chef, and enjoys travelling – particularly in Europe.
Senior Associate
Passionate about helping those around her thrive, April attended McMaster University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Gerontology and Health Sciences, with visions of entering the world of healthcare after graduation. But when a field placement left her realizing healthcare wasn’t the right industry for her, April pivoted, finding the perfect home in financial services in 2006. Her compassionate nature and curious spirit quickly helped her excel, first in an administrative role at another leading bank, and later at a boutique capital management firm, where she spent four years working as an associate before joining RBC Dominion Securities in 2012.
Since 2018, April has been a core part of The McCartney Group, supporting Daniel and his clients with exceptional client service. A licensed investment representative, April serves as clients’ key point of contact for day-to-day portfolio needs, expertly responding to even the most complex inquiries with a smile. “For me, the best part of my job is getting to talk to clients,” she says. “Helping them succeed brings me genuine joy.” In 2021, April joined the Investment Associate Advisory Board, representing RBC Dominion Securities associates across Canada with the goal of improving their roles today and in the future.
Married to her high school sweetheart, April now resides in Oakville with her husband and their twin sons. In her free time, she loves travelling and playing softball.
