As an Investment Counsellor for RBC Phillips, Hager & North Investment Counsel, Andy Cloutier provides comprehensive discretionary investment management for affluent individuals, their families, their corporations and charitable foundations.
Andy works with a small number of clients, delivering highly personalized service with customized investment solutions. Clients value their personal relationship with, and direct access to Andy, who in turn is supported by tax & estate planning specialists and a team of carefully selected investment managers in key markets around the world.
Prior to his appointment at RBC Phillips, Hager & North Investment Counsel in 2007, Andy was Managing Director responsible for the oversight and management of RBC (Caribbean) Corporation based in Barbados, a unit whose primary platform is international discretionary investment management. Assets under management at the unit were US$3.7 billion at the time of Andy’s departure from Barbados. Prior to this, Andy was based in the Bahamas where he oversaw the activities of RBC International Wealth Management’s Structured Solutions team for the Americas region. Prior to his relocation to the Bahamas from Toronto, Andy was Senior Manager, International Services where he provided investment management and multi-jurisdictional estate planning for clients with assets and financial interests in several different countries. Andy joined RBC in 1988.
In the ten years that Andy spent with RBC’s International Wealth Management division, he gained considerable knowledge in the areas of trust & estate planning as well as cross-border planning. As a result, he is often introduced to clients whose portfolios are held in trust and other structures and is able to collaborate with in-house Financial Planning, Tax and Estate Planning specialists, to develop sophisticated and creative solutions.
A graduate of the University of Ottawa in 1988 with a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) degree, Andy completed the Canadian Securities Course in 1989 and became a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder in 1995. He is a member of the Toronto CFA Society and CFA Institute.
