RBC DS celebrates Kingston Pride 2019!

This June, RBC was proud to walk in the Kingston Pride Parade to celebrate diversity and inclusion for the fourth year in a row. Embracing diversity for innovation and growth is one of RBC’s five values, and is interwoven in our business strategy.

This summer’s Pride Parade was the largest in Kingston history with an incredible turn out from local businesses and community members.

Although June is Pride month officially, RBC celebrates pride all year long. PRIDE (Proud RBC Individuals for Diversity and Equality) is one of our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that provides support and a sense of community to LGBTQ+ and allied employees. This allows us to actively create an inclusive culture year-round.

RBC is an ally and has been present at over 40 Pride Parades around the globe and supports over 85 LGBT+ themed community partners.

Below is a timeline of RBC’s history of inclusion:

1995 Recognized same-gender partners for spousal equivalent benefits across employee benefit-programs

1999 Pride, employee resource group was established and is now global

2000 Extended pension coverage to same-gender partners

2012 Wealth Management U.S. introduced transgender support guidelines for employees

2015 RBC in Canada introduced transgender support guidelines for employees

2014 Opened an online community with LGTB+ resources, tools, and meeting place

2017 Ranked #1 on LGTBT+ inclusion index by Pride at Work Canada

The Kingston branch thanks everyone and their families for joining us to celebrate diversity and inclusion and we hope to see you again next year!
