After four years with a leading life insurer, Barrington joined RBC in 1993 to help RBC advisors introduce their clients to a new concept to build and protect their wealth: tax-exempt insurance. Since then, clients, along with their RBC advisors and tax accountants, have come to rely on Barrington’s specialized knowledge and advice as a recognized specialist on insurance-based wealth enhancement and protection.

Barrington has a degree in Political Science and is also an accredited Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). In addition, Barrington is a member of ADVOCIS, Canada’s largest membership of professional financial advisors. As a nationally regarded expert on using insurance as a wealth management technique, Barrington is regularly called upon as a featured speaker at national conferences held by leading life insurers and affiliated industry associations.

As a Business Owner Specialist, Mark partners with Bill Holmes and the Lakeshore Advisory Group to explore the tax, estate, succession and retirement planning issues you encounter as a business owner.

Prior to joining RBC, Mark spent over 14 years in the Private Company Services tax group of a Big 4 accounting firm in Toronto. Acting as a trusted business advisor for Ultra High Net Worth families, Mark was responsible for the creation and implementation of effective strategies for wealth preservation and accumulation in the context of tax, estate and succession planning for owner-managers of private companies, senior executives of public companies and professional athletes.

Mark is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant, Certified Financial Planner, and a Trust and Estate Practitioner. He has completed the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Advance Certificate in Family Business Advising, all three levels of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth Tax Course, as well as the Advanced Tax Issues for the Owner-Managed Business Course and the Corporate Reorganizations Course. Mark has served as Chair of the Board of Evaluators for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and Treasurer for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Ontario. He obtained his Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) from Queen’s University.

A key member of the Greg Hall team when it come to Business Succession and Sale issues, James spent the last thirteen years advising owners of privately held businesses on exiting or passing on their business.

In the process has developed several best practices around business succession planning. He recently co-authored a book, “The Transition Experience – What every Canadian family business owner should know beyond succession planning”

Prashant has assisted high net worth and ultra high net worth individuals and families with tax, estate and retirement issues since 1992. His expertise includes tax and estate planning for executives, business owners, retirees, sports professionals and individuals with U.S. issues.

Prior to joining RBC in 1999, Prashant honed his expertise by working as a Canadian and U.S. tax specialist for two of the big four Toronto accounting firms. Prashant is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation. He is a crucial member of the Greg Hall team.

Murray has been providing advice and technical support for high net worth individual and family wealth planning since 1994. His expertise encompasses both domestic and international family circumstances.

Before joining RBC’s Canadian Wealth Management Services team in 2008, Murray worked with RBC’s Global Private Banking group as the senior resource in their global trust business for over 13 years.

Murray is an active writer, speaker and educator on a wide range of wealth management issues and enjoys a close working relationship with Greg.
