Senior Portfolio Manager & Investment Advisor
Ian has nearly three decades of wealth and investment management experience, having joined the industry in 1996 and RBC in 2000. As our in-house wealth and investment expert, Ian’s focus is on delivering total, thoughtful, tax-efficient wealth management and advice in all facets of our clients’ wealth, from financial planning to retirement planning and beyond. And as part of Canada’s largest full-service wealth management firm, he seamlessly leverages the world-class resources available to our team for the benefit of our clients, connecting them to the right experts at the right time along their financial journey. Helping our clients attain success and total peace of mind remains the primary motivating factor for Ian, and he is proud to lead a team of financial professionals aligned to that same goal.
Ian attended the University of Waterloo and earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) with a major in Economics. In addition to being senior portfolio manager, investment advisor, and leader of Runnalls Private Wealth, he has also earned the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation, empowering him to uniquely cater to the sophisticated investment management needs of our clients and their families. Established in the industry as a respected advisor thanks to his exemplary business ethics, unwavering client-first attitude, and world-class investment advice, Ian stops at nothing to ensure his clients are in safe hands and achieve complete financial peace of mind.
Outside of the office, Ian spends much of his time with his wife and their three kids, taking them around to their various sports and activities. He is also a proud supporter of various charitable initiatives, from sponsoring a Syrian family amidst the civil war to building a water well in Nicaragua. His daughter is also a proud Girl Guide and Ian has recently volunteered to help organize their beloved cookie sales.
Senior Associate
Chris joined RBC in 2003 and Runnalls Private Wealth in 2008. Through the intervening years, she has established herself as a lead relationship manager for our team. Her background in accounting and exceptional attention to detail is perfectly balanced with her instinctive understanding of developing long-lasting, trusting relationships with clients. As a valuable asset to team and clients alike, she acts as a first point of contact, and is often our clients’ go-to resource, helping them navigate the intricacies of their personal financial situations with the highest level of care.
A 20-plus-year veteran of the ever-changing financial services industry, Chris has extensive knowledge of wealth and investment best practices and is an in-house expert in many facets of our clients’ wealth. A true team player and collaborator, she understands and diligently manages the minutia of our clients’ wealth, from organizing client meetings and reviews to keeping track of monthly payments and contributions. In addition to her extensive on-the-job experience, she has also completed a variety of courses from the Canadian Securities Institute to sharpen her skills.
Born and raised in England, Chris now calls Aurora home. She and her husband are both involved in the paddling community up north, and they enjoy spending time with their friends at their cottage canoeing, hiking, and camping in the beautiful Ontario wilderness.
Associate Advisor
With nearly a decade of wealth management experience, Joyce is a valued and knowledgeable member of the Runnalls Private Wealth team. Day to day, Joyce works alongside Ian planning and delivering investment strategies, connecting clients to our world-class partners, and carefully executing all projects.
A graduate of York University, where she received a Bachelor of Business Administrative Studies (Honours) with a major in Finance, Joyce is passionate about education and ensuring her skills remain up to date for the benefit of our clients. To that end, she has earned the coveted Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation, the industry standard for investment and portfolio management services. She has also completed a variety of courses from the Canadian Securities Institute including the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), the Conduct and Practices Handbook Course (CPH), and the Wealth Management Essentials (WME) course.
Joyce grew up in India, is fluent in Hindi, and moved to Canada with her family to pursue better opportunities. Now a proud resident of Toronto, on weekends she can be found trying new restaurants and cafes around the city.
Administrative Assistant
Mattea is the newest member of Runnalls Private Wealth, bringing with her over four years of financial services experience. She began her career at RBC as an in-branch client advisor, learning the ins and outs of the industry and the value of providing exceptional client care. Today, as administrative assistant, she leverages her experience to build trusting relationships with clients, understand their unique needs, and connect them with the right experts so that they can achieve their financial goals.
Mattea earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with Honours from Wilfrid Laurier University, where she found her passion for business, venture projects, and economics. She looks forward to completing additional industry-related courses to further her knowledge and hone her skills.
In her spare time, Mattea enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling and exploring everything the city has to offer. Since relocating from Belle River to Toronto, she embraces the vibrant city life and all its opportunities.
