“I love what we do, who we do it for, and where we do it,” says Peter of his role, the culmination of a long-standing career spanning more than 30 years and three continents – North America, Asia, and Australia. Competitive and passionate, Peter takes pride in clients’ successes: “To see our client’s fulfill their dreams and objectives for themselves and families is extremely rewarding. Watching people gain confidence in their future never gets old.”
Peter’s experience is as diverse as the cities in which he has worked. After studying business at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, he started his career as an investment broker. Since then, he has held progressively senior roles in both retail and institutional firms, including chief executive officer of a country division for a major global asset management firm.
In 2005, Peter returned to private wealth management, moving back to Canada from Melbourne, Australia with his family. “Researching and hiring various institutional investment managers, I got an inside look at how the very best manage their operations,” Peter says. “We have taken that philosophy and approach to our operations at The Hodgson Group. Process and discipline is a hallmark for our team.”
Peter holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI), and a Certified International Wealth Manager (CIWM). In addition, Peter was a regular commentator on national and business television for investing and financial markets.
In the summer, Peter starts his days on the water, coaching and training in sprint canoe/kayak – a continuation of a life-long sport that had him on the National Team in his youth. In the winter, you can find him in the hills cross country skiing. A voracious reader, Peter enjoys research with a cup of coffee.
Peter is a past President and Treasurer of the Rotary Club of South Georgian Bay, he was co-chair of the capital campaign to set up a permanent campus of Georgian College in Collingwood, and he is currently a director and coach for the Collingwood Paddling Club.
Jordan first established himself in the financial industry nearly a decade ago. As a financial planner, he was well known for his ability to simplify complex financial affairs for his clients. “I always knew that I wanted to make a meaningful difference in peoples’ lives,” he says.
Building on his degree in economics from McMaster University, where he graduated with honours, Jordan obtained his IIROC license and partnered with our team in 2018. As an investment advisor at The Hodgson Group, Jordan guides his clients and their families through various financial decisions with personalized and comprehensive wealth management strategies. He collaborates with both internal and external financial specialists to provide a one-stop wealth service for his clients. This includes bespoke investment management, retirement and major purchase planning, business succession planning, tax minimization planning, insurance analysis, and philanthropic giving.
Jordan works diligently to find the right strategy for long-term success based on his clients’ needs, risk tolerances, and financial goals, while providing frequent touchpoints for his clients. “I like to look at things from a different perspective,” Jordan says, and his colleagues and clients value his forward-thinking approach.
In his free time, Jordan likes to stay active, both within the community and the outdoors, whether it’s through CrossFit, biking, or being on the water.

Laura learned perseverance and dedication in her youth, when she moved across the country from Ontario to British Columbia to be a part of the National Snowboarding Team in Vancouver. Upon retiring from professional sports, Laura graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Langara College. She started her career in the non-profit sector at the David Suzuki Foundation, and, in 2009, brought her research skills and passion for helping others to the finance industry.
Laura gained valuable experience working for a major Canadian financial institution before moving back home in 2013 to be closer to family.
In April 2020, Laura joined The Hodgson Group, where she leverages her decade of experience as a licensed associate handling client requests, opening accounts, and managing the risk and trading dashboards. “My colleagues inspire me – they are so forward thinking, always working to improve the overall experience for our clients,” says Laura. For her, alleviating stress for clients is a top priority and a key indicator of The Hodgson Group’s success.
Laura is passionate about protecting the environment, and she is always looking for creative ways bring sustainability to her work, like going paperless with client documentation. She and her husband love the outdoors, and can often be found mountain biking, surfing, skiing, and – of course – snowboarding with their two children.
