Senior Portfolio Manager & Wealth Advisor
Patrick is a Senior Wealth Advisor with nearly two decades of experience in the financial industry. He leads a team of exceptional wealth planning professionals in tax, financial planning, estate planning, insurance, and farm transition to encompass all the financial needs of his clientele.
Patrick has combined two careers – veterinary medicine and now nearly 20 years as a preventative medicine oriented wealth manager. He understands the demands, challenges, and opportunities associated with farms, medical practices, and business ownership. This unique perspective allows him to provide sound, straightforward advice to help clients overcome complexity, live comfortably, and concentrate on their priorities.
Patrick earned a doctorate with distinction from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) in 1987 and retired from active practice in 2004. His focus was on preventative medicine, offering a complete dairy herd health service. That interest in preventing, rather than treating disease, has significantly influenced his financial practice.
In addition to his veterinary and wealth management expertise, Patrick was the CEO of a technology firm, leveraging his leadership, strategic planning, communication skills, and growth mindset.
His extensive travels in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America fuel his strong interest in global environmental, political, economic, and social developments. Patrick uses these personal experiences and continuous study in his disciplined investing approach. He also holds the Financial Management Advisor (FMA) and Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designations.
An active community member, Patrick is a Rotarian with the Meadow Ridge Rotary Club and was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship in 2007 for his work on ShelterBox – a worldwide relief program that provides temporary tent housing in disaster-afflicted regions. His later work in polio eradication was recognized with a second Paul Harris Fellowship. Patrick also supports the local hospital and, through the annual Rotary Duck Race, a wide range of local youth and senior activities.
Throughout each client’s financial journey, Patrick keeps in close contact with them, providing benefits that go much further than the traditional investment advisor offering. He provides support for business planning and negotiation, referrals to specialists in his network as needed, and consultative support for the next generation who are making their start in the world.
