Patrick is a senior wealth advisor with nearly two decades of professional experience. He leads a team of exceptional wealth planning professionals in tax, financial/estate planning, insurance, and farm transition to encompass all the financial needs of his clientele.
Patrick graduated with distinction from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) in 1987, retiring from active practice in 2004. His focus was on preventative medicine offering a complete herd health service. That interest in preventing, rather than treating disease has a strong carry over into his financial practice.
After leaving practice, with his father Professor Robert O’Brien, Patrick developed a startup technology company from a set of electrochemical patents advancing the company to the pre-public stage.
Over the years, Patrick has travelled extensively in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America. He maintains a strong interest in world environmental, political, economic and social developments. Patrick uses these personal experiences and continuous study in his disciplined style of investing.
Patrick is a Rotarian with the Meadow Ridge Rotary Club and was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship in 2007 for his work on Shelterbox – a worldwide relief program that provides temporary tent housing in disaster afflicted regions. His later work in polio eradication was recognized with a second Paul Harris. Patrick also supports the local hospital and through the annual Rotary Duck Race, a wide range of local youth and senior sports and other activities.
Patrick keeps close contact with his clients providing benefits that go much further than those traditional investment advisors typically offer. He provides support for business planning and negotiation, referrals to other professionals as needed and consultative support for children who are making their start in the world. Clients and their children are encouraged to contact Patrick as they have need outside of regularly scheduled meetings.
