A lawyer specializing in estate law for more than fifteen years, Bonnie  Kaplan has worked with thousands of clients over the years to help develop effective estate plans from a tax, personal and legal perspective.  Bonnie left private practice with a Montreal law firm in 2003 to join  RBC Wealth   Management in its early stages. As a senior member of the  Wealth Management team, Bonnie meets with high net worth clients – entrepreneurs, philanthropists, retirees, singles and couples – to discuss tax and estate strategies tailored for the particular client situation.  Along with her LL.B. conferred by the Université de Montréal, Bonnie holds an M.A. (education) from the Université de Montréal and a B.A. from McGill. She was called to the Barreau du Quebec in 1996. Bonnie has, also, completed Parts I and II of the CICA (now CPA) In-Depth tax courses.  Bonnie is an active member of The Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (Quebec chapter), the Canadian Bar Association (Quebec) and the Association de Planification Fiscale et Financière.

Nelly holds a Master’s of Business Law from Université Paris 1 (PanthéonSorbonne), and a D.E.S.S. in International Business Law from Université Paris Descartes. She received her financial planner designation from the Institut québécois de planification financière (IQPF) in 2004. Nelly has over 10 years of experience as a financial planner. Before joining RBC, Nelly worked with financial advisors’ clients to optimize their financial position and wealth by creating strategic action plans customized to their needs.

Paule Gauthier, CPA, CA, LL.M., TEP

Paule specializes in tax and estate planning for ultra-high-net-worth families.  Her guidance supports clients in their relationships with their external professional advisors, with whom she frequently interacts.  Paule has a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from l’École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) and a Master’s degree in Tax Law from the Montreal University. She has completed the Securities Dealers Course from the Canadian Securities Institute.   As a Chartered Profesionnal Accountant, Paule has more than 20 years of experience in tax and estate planning consulting, in CA firms as well as in life insurance and securities dealer companies. Paule is a frequent lecturer at annual conferences and technical seminars of l’Association de planification fiscale et financière and other professional associations and an active writer of reference papers on tax and estate planning topics.

Paule is a member of the executive committee of STEP Montreal and is regularly involved in various committees of the Association de planification fiscale et successorale. Paule is a member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec, the l’Association de planification fiscale et successorale, the Canadian Tax Foundation, the International Fiscal Association and the Society of Trust and Estate practitioners.
