Portfolio Manager
Whether he’s reading up on the latest trends, researching a stock, or building relationships with clients, John does it all to the best of his ability. As portfolio manager and partner with Jim, he leverages the power of our collective team – along with his thorough knowledge of wealth and investment management – to guide our clients toward their goals. John prides himself on unlocking the power of our clients’ wealth through proper stewardship, and he always leads with genuine compassion for those he serves.
Dedicated to continuing education, John holds an MBA in Business Strategy from the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University. He is also a CFA charterholder, the preeminent designation for experts in investment analysis and portfolio management. Prior to joining RBC Dominion Securities, John was a member of the Canadian National Kayak Team where he represented Canada at multiple World Championships and World Cup competitions and was named an alternate on the 2012 Olympic Team. He was also a member of the prestigious RBC Olympians Program.
John is a committed family man and loves spending time with his wife and two young kids. As a former world-class competitive athlete, John has a strong affinity to the world of sports and continues to lead a very active life – he has a Strava account to prove it. He is also proud to give back through a range of community initiatives.
Senior Portfolio Manager
A strategic, detail-oriented, and data-driven thinker, Jim has been using his unique skill set to serve the diverse needs of our clients for nearly three decades. As one of our team’s partners and key relationship managers, he acts as a mentor in all aspects of wealth and investment management, seeking to find opportunities and offer fresh insights that help our clients build and protect their wealth. He is passionate about his beliefs, particularly as they relate to continuous improvement and building a better future for his families and his community. He leads his high functioning team through Lencioni’s principles of trust, accountability, commitment, attention to detail, and a willingness to challenge.
Jim is a graduate of Queen’s University with a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering. As a former process engineer, he leverages this experience into a very disciplined wealth and investment management process.
Outside of the office, Jim is driven by his Four Fs: Family, Friends, Fitness, and Faith. He commits and prioritizes free time to each of these Fs while actively pursuing his secret woodworking passion. Jim is a proud supporter of the Children’s Summer Reading Program at the Perth & District Union Library – having raised over $539,000 since the inception of his annual charity golf tournament – as well as the Perth and District Community Foundation and The Table Community Food Centre.
Associate Wealth Advisor
Alexandra leverages nearly two decades of financial services experience to help our clients grow and protect their hard-earned wealth. As associate wealth advisor, she oversees and is responsible for the execution of our team’s investment management strategies, supporting John and Jim in their endeavour to steward, simplify, and safeguard our clients’ wealth. She also personally handles a number of client accounts, seeking to build long-lasting, meaningful relationships with those she serves.
Alexandra earned a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts from Lakehead University, as well as a Diploma of Business in Business Administration and Human Resources from Algonquin College. Prior to joining our team in 2012, she worked as a teacher for the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board and in various roles across RBC including account manager and associate advisor.
Investment Associate
Loreen is passionate about understanding our clients beyond the numbers, leveraging nearly two decades of financial services experience to do so. As investment associate, she executes on our team’s investment strategies through rebalancing, investing cash, raising cash for ad-hoc and regular payments, and more. Her technical skills are perfectly balanced with her personal skills, focusing much of her time on getting to know our clients’ stories in order to better address their unique needs.
Loreen was one of 30 Zimbabwean students to earn full financial aid and scholarships to study in the U.S., where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Mathematics from Mount Holyoke College. She has also completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), the Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH) Course, and the Wealth Management Essentials (WME) course from the Canadian Securities Institute. Prior to joining our team, she worked at a number of leading financial institutions in the U.S. and Canada.
Loreen was born and raised in Zimbabwe and relocated to Canada upon completion of her studies in the U.S. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and twin girls, entertaining friends, and reading.
Executive Assistant
Jodi is an experienced executive assistant who ensures a smooth and efficient service for our clients and team. She expertly supports our team with a variety of important tasks including calendar and meeting scheduling, event planning, client communications, sponsorship management, and more. And as a first point of contact and natural problem solver, she is perfectly equipped to answer client inquiries while seeking ways to support their wealth management goals.
Jodi joined Hastings Noble in 2020 and quickly became an integral part of our team, bringing with her nearly a decade of experience at another financial services firm.
Jodi relocated to Ottawa in 2001 from Alberta. She enjoys living an active life with a variety of sports and activities including road biking, cross-country skiing, and golf.
Associate
Sara is a skilled professional with a passion for hearing our clients’ unique stories and helping them accomplish their long-term goals. As associate, her primary responsibilities include onboarding, new account openings, documentation, and client transactions, all of which she handles with pride.
A graduate of Ontario Tech University (OTU), Sara earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Shortly thereafter, she joined RBC in 2018 and gained invaluable financial services experience in branch operations before becoming a member of Hastings Noble in 2021.
Sara was raised in Whitby, Ontario before moving to Ottawa for her studies. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Jim, and their Australian Shepherd, Max. She also likes to test out recipes in the kitchen, spend time outdoors by the water in summer, and participate in a variety of activities in the winter.
Taylor is a young professional with a passion for financial health and well-being. Having started his career in retail branch banking, Taylor gained valuable experience in client facing roles. He enjoys helping clients throughout their financial journey and takes pride in the progress made with each client. As Associate, his primary responsibilities include onboarding, new account openings, documentation, and client transactions. Taylor was raised in London, Ontario before moving to Ottawa to attend the University of Ottawa’s Finance program at the Telfer School of Management. In the summer months, he enjoys spending time on the golf course or tennis court. During the winter, you will find him at many of the hockey rinks in and around Ottawa, or maybe at an Ottawa Senators game cheering on his Senators.
