Senior Portfolio Manager
David continuously strives to empower our clients to take control of their financial futures. “You’ll never have things fully figured out, but you can always keep reading or learning,” he says.
David’s curiosity about the world of finance started at a young age. “In high school, when I was bored of class I’d sneak out to the library,” he remembers. “The library had The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times – all of these newspapers that covered the financial markets were available for free, and it felt like I was the only student reading them.”
David went on to study finance in college, embarking in a career in engineered industrial products. With his attention to detail and knack for understanding people, he soon became the youngest and highest contributor to the company’s expansion in the Canadian operations and parts of the United States. By the age of 24, he was conducting solo trips to clients along Canada’s East and West Coasts.
When it was time for a change, David knew exactly where he wanted to go: RBC Dominion Securities. He made his ambition reality and in the three decades that followed, clients and colleagues alike have recognized David for his honesty, dedication, and expertise. As Senior Portfolio Manager, David builds a portfolio that you can understand while also compounding your capital. He leverages his deep experience to provide sound investment advice and financial comfort.
Outside work, David loves being outdoors. He leads an active lifestyle, where he enjoys skiing and playing competitive squash. He also likes to spend time with his partner, Julie, and their two grown-up children.
Associate Advisor
Alex prides himself on his ability to conduct meticulous fundamental research. He believes a company’s value can be uncovered in its financial statements, and he draws on this foundation to provide peace of mind for our clients.
While he was studying finance at McMaster University, Alex discovered his passion for both continuous learning and financial markets. In 2012, after graduating with his Bachelor of Commerce degree, Alex brought his passions to RBC Dominion Securities.
As an Associate Advisor, Alex supports our team’s investment strategy alongside David. For him, the most rewarding part of his role is being on this financial journey with our clients and bringing things full circle, whether it’s helping them send their kids to college or helping them plan for retirement. “Giving our clients that reassurance is the greatest feeling,” he says.
In addition to earning his Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation, Alex is licensed to deal in options trading.
Born and raised in Hamilton, Alex currently resides in Guelph and enjoys road tripping with his wife and trying out as many restaurants as possible.
