As an experienced Investment Counsellor with RBC PH&N Investment Counsel, Bruce utilizes a comprehensive and disciplined approach to wealth management by helping families understand their financial goals more clearly, manage their investment capital prudently and plan for an eventual tax efficient and thoughtful transfer of wealth to family members and charitable causes.
Bruce gains a clear understanding of his clients’ unique family circumstances and then works with tax, legal and insurance advisors to ensure that integrated strategies are in place to both manage their wealth in a tax-efficient manner today and to create a legacy for future generations. To help families communicate more effectively amongst themselves and with their advisors, Bruce often reaches out to family facilitators to assist his clients.
Once a client-specific financial roadmap is in place, Bruce designs customized investment portfolios to help individuals and their families preserve their wealth, avoid costly mistakes, and grow their investment capital to meet their current and future income needs. Portfolios may include registered accounts, estates, trusts, holding companies, individual pension plans and family foundations.
Over the course of his career, Bruce has held a number of senior roles at national firms. He entered the investment industry in 1987 as a securities trader in Calgary with a large national trust company before obtaining the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1991 and returning to Vancouver in 1993.
In 2009, Bruce completed the Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA) program from the Business Families Centre (BFC) at the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business. His knowledge and experience working with business owners, entrepreneurs and professionals allows him to better understand their unique lifestyle, goals and wealth preservation strategies.
Bruce is a member of the CFA Institute and an active volunteer in the community. He lives in West Vancouver with his family and enjoys tennis, golf and hockey in his spare time.
