Sarah Timm - Associate Wealth Advisor

Why I started at RBC: An acquaintance Investment Advisor introduced me to RBC Dominion Securities in 2017. I had spent over a decade with another financial institution and I was very impressed with the resources, support and technologies available here at RBC Wealth Management. Having access to best in class resources in turn provide best in class wealth management solutions to our clients.

How my career has progressed: Having joined RBC Dominion Securities mid-career I can say my role is a destination role for me. Working in the financial industry for many years, in various roles, gave me the opportunity to discover what I am most passionate about: wealth management and financial planning; helping clients prepare, plan and protect all aspects of their wealth. While I view my role as a destination role, I am an avid believer in life-long learning and RBC is a great supporter of continuing education. Since joining RBC DS. with the firm's support, I have achieved my Life License Qualification Program, Wealth Management Essentials Course, Chartered Investment Manager designation (CIM®) and Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI®).

What I like most about my job: Being a genuinely curious person, I love hearing client stories; how they built their businesses and careers, memories from the family cottage or farm, lessons learned and passed between generations. This helps me understand what drives them, what's important and what keeps them awake at night. Being able to provide clients with guidance that results in peace of mind and those moments when goals become reality, drive my passion about my career at RBC Dominion Securities.

Why I started at RBC and how my career has progressed:     I started my career with RBC in 2014 as an Investment and Retirement Planner working out of RBC branches in Kingston, Napanee, Bath and Odessa. I moved to another financial institution in 2018 for family reasons but returned to RBC in 2021 to work as an Associate at the RBC Dominion Securities office in Kingston alongside an Investment Advisor whom I built a working relationship with during my previous time with RBC in the Investment and Retirement Planner role.

What I like the most about my job: My colleagues and I partner together in helping to bring clients the best RBC has to offer in terms of financial planning and investment advice, so it was an easy decision for me to return to RBC when the opportunity presented itself. Having worked for 3 other financial institutions since beginning my career in the industry 17 years ago, I feel RBC is the organization that helps me to get the most out of my passion for meeting new people and playing a part in helping them along their financial journey. I feel very fortunate to have worked with and continue to work with many like minded, supportive colleagues/partners within the RBC enterprise and look forward to continuing to do so for the rest of my career.
