Financial Literacy Education

With today’s youth graduating from high school with little to no formal training in how to manage their financial affairs, Robert has gone out into the community to help fill this void. Using a lesson plan that covers the basics of banking, credit and financial planning, Robert helps educate the lower mainland’s soon-to-be graduates on how to survive in the financial world. Robert also works with Junior Achievement Canada as a volunteer in classrooms throughout Vancouver.

Presenting workshops at public and private high schools throughout the greater Vancouver area, Robert works with school staff and teachers to design seminars that engage and educate. He has recently partnered with St. Georges School, Eric Hamber Secondary, Hugh McRoberts Secondary and Steveston-London Secondary.

Mentorship

Having benefitted from great mentorship during the start of his own career, Robert is passionate about engaging with students and recent graduates to help guide their professional paths. Robert works closely with clubs and associations affiliated with financial industries and presents throughout the year at career workshops and seminars. Through the alumni associations of his high school and university, he provides one-on-one mentorship to a select group of students every year.

BC Cancer Foundation

With 2 in 5 Canadians being affected by cancer within their lifetimes, there is an urgent need for more research and treatment funding. This cause is near and dear to Robert who has been an active participant in the Ride to Conquer Cancer since 2012. As team captain for RBC’s corporate team, he has worked to increase  awareness of an event that has raised over $77 million in the last eight years.

Vancouver Aquarium and Marine Mammal Rescue Centre

Marine biology has been a passion for Robert since early childhood. Developing an appreciation for the aquatic world that defines the West Coast of Canada, Robert has volunteered with and financially supports the Vancouver Aquarium and Marine Mammal Rescue Centre.

Ducks Unlimited and the BC Waterfowl Society

Wetlands and wildlife are vital to what makes Vancouver such an amazing place to live. Working from an office within the Fraser River delta, Robert supports local efforts to conserve and protect wetlands for future generations to come. As a lifetime member of the bird sanctuary, you can often find Robert walking in the estuaries on Westham Island.
