A common and important question I hear from my community, clients, colleagues and family is “Why RBC Dominion Securities?” While the reasons are numerous and varied in nature, I’d like to share one of them.

Phoenix Youth Programs

A common and important question I hear from my community, clients, colleagues and family is “Why RBC Dominion Securities?” While the reasons are numerous and varied in nature, I’d like to share one of them below.

Both professionally and personally, I’m immensely proud to be part of an organization that not only promotes, but strives to be a leader in helping our communities on both a global and local scale.

In 2020, Christopher Ronald, Regional President of RBC decided to re-allocate the $70,000 usually dedicated to RBC’s holiday reception to various charitable causes. So many charities rely on annual galas and fundraisers, where people gather to support these important causes. Due to COVID restrictions over the holiday season, many charities were disadvantaged in their annual fundraising efforts. Chris’s decision truly reflects RBC’s purpose – to help clients thrive and communities prosper.

A few weeks after Chris’s decision, the RBC Dominion Securities Halifax office stepped up to honour our longstanding support of Phoenix Youth Programs. As Presenting Sponsor of the annual Phoenix Holiday Luncheon each December, attracting over 1,000 attendees and raising close to $200,000 - we wanted to maintain our support.

Several of my colleagues and I contributed an additional $15,000 to support the “Holiday Luncheon”. Combined with our presenting sponsorship, our total contribution was over $30,000 as an office. With the help of additional sponsors in the community, this year’s efforts were a success - even with the event being reduced to “Take and Bake” style luncheon in lieu of our in-person luncheon.

Phoenix has graciously produced a video in recognition of this support, which I’ve included below. If you’d like to learn more about Phoenix Youth Programs and how you can support their cause, you can visit their website here
