Happy New Year! As we welcome in a new year, we remember all the good memories we have made and look forward to the wonders that lie ahead in the coming year. On behalf of myself and the team I would like to wish you a promising and fulfilling New Year with the blessings of good health, happiness, and abundance.

As part of your new year’s resolution we would like to suggest we meet over the coming months to update your financial plan. Regardless of your financial situation, maintaining a current financial plan is a fundamental step towards ensuring your financial goals are realized, your tax burden is minimized, your family is provided for and your legacy is secure.

As your Financial Advisory team, it is our job to help you find confidence and clarity in their finances, especially when markets experience a turbulent period. In addition to professional investment management, we provide access to an expansive network of resources and financial specialists. With experts in areas like tax, will & estate planning and business planning, we can help you design a coordinated financial plan, tailored to you.

Although not every year can end with positive returns, we had an active year in managing your portfolio with a focus on mitigating tax and ensuring that the highest quality large capitalization businesses were held in client portfolios. An informed client is an empowered client, which is why we are so strongly committed to staying in touch with you to provide frequent market updates & webcasts via our blog, as well as client events with special guest speakers.

In building your investment portfolio, a great deal of time and resources are dedicated to selecting an appropriate asset allocation (the percentage weighting of cash, fixed income and equity) to then formulate a group of investments that best position you to achieve your financial objectives within your appropriate risk level. The current market volatility can be emotional and our advice is to trust your asset allocation and consider the fundamentals of the economy – which are still quite strong. We remain comfortable that fundamentals continue to support our allocation to large cap, good quality businesses which continue to pay attractive dividends. Episodes like this tend to take time to play out and volatility can shift back and forth for a number of months. History has shown that successful long term investors maximize portfolio returns by exercising patience and by making thoughtful portfolio decisions, in line with long-term goals.
