We hosted 40 women at the beautiful Duntroon Highlands golf course for another successful fundraiser for the Innovation Fund at CGMH!
From our favourite NHL goaltending coach Steve McKichan (Future Pro), a nice video from his YouTube series where he profiled my son Stanley and me. I discuss the similarities in the preparation, journey and focus required for professional athletes, business professionals, and beer league hockey players (I tick the box on all three of these for better or worse!). Simplify when possible...
I'm proud and humbled to have worked with Junior Achievement Canada (https://www.jacanada.org/), and help to give some basic financial and entrepreneurial perspective to the students at Admiral Elementary School. JA Canada was founded in 1955, and has been inspiring and preparing youth to succeed by providing opportunities to learn financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness skills with engaging programs and the help of dedicated volunteers.
Financial literacy for youth is a passion of mine, and often this is a subject that is overlooked for many students as they grow and learn. JA Canada does a great job of putting together relevant programs and getting into the classrooms to give hands on learning and case studies for our students. This will be an initiative that I will continue to focus on.
Sept/20
Like most functions and charitable events, the Growling Beaver had to reinvent itself and its approach this year given the current environment. They've managed to raise nearly $2 million for people living with Parkinson’s, including $200,000 for the virtual version, which is amazing. I was honoured to support and join the ride this year, and look forward to many to come.
100 Men Who Care is a fantastic initiative that has hundreds of local chapters across the country. Why not get together with 99 friends a few times a year, enjoy some social time and support local initiatives in your area with a meaningful collective donation? It's truly a win-win initiative.
100 Men Who Care South Georgian Bay is an organization that has been pressing through these unique times, most recently gathering virtually to support another local charity and great cause. Our September donation ended up at $5,500 which is amazing given it was the group's first virtual meeting. Below is a photo of a few members celebrating the gift with the Events for Life team. We had the chance to meet a participant and volunteers. They were extremely grateful, and we are happy and humbled to help where we can. You can find out more about Events for Life here.
