S&P 500 closes nearly flat after Fed leaves rates unchanged, signals more hikes are coming

Jerome Powell was the market’s main character yesterday: As expected, the Fed opted not to raise interest rates for the first time in 15 months, but stocks fell because the Fed also signaled that they're planning two more rate hikes before the end of the year. Powell later managed to turn the tide a bit by reassuring investors that no decisions have been made about a rate hike next month.
