Ottawa Hospital RIDE – Team RBC!

Team_RBC_Ottawa

On September 9th, 2018, 19 riders and 17 volunteers represented Team RBC at the Ottawa Hospital’s RIDE.  With a total of $1.1 million raised this year, THE RIDE has now raised more than $13 million for research priorities at The Ottawa Hospital.

This year marked Team RBC’s third year participating in THE RIDE, raising just shy of $40,000 for cancer research at The Ottawa Hospital.  This has pushed Team RBC well over the $100,000 threshold of dollars raised in a mere three years.

We share this accomplishment with all of the volunteers who have provided invaluable support to Team RBC each and every year.

Financial Literacy

Rob_Meredith

The team is passionate about financial literacy and we volunteer our time to empower young and growing minds in the community.

Robert has been a passionate Junior Achievement (JA) volunteer for 4 years, and enjoys inspiring and being inspired by the local youth he supports in these deliveries.  JA inspires youth to start a business, make better financial decisions and chart a career path.  Robert has assisted in facilitating an empowering one-day program for grade 8 students. Economics For Success focuses on financial literacy, challenges students to reflect on their personal goals and highlights the advantages of remaining in school for long-term success. Last year, Robert was provided the opportunity to offer this workshop to young offenders through a joint partnership pilot program with the Youth Services Bureau and The Hay Center.  This partnership allowed Robert the chance to connect and provide enhanced financial literacy and job skills to an engaged group of young men.
