Airplane Reading

Good afternoon,

The hint of spring teases this week in central BC, as markets hopefully hop along. Here’s some reading you may find interesting. I mean, I did, but I’m odd that way…

First, on China: 2023: A turning point for China?

Next, this week's issue of Global Insights:

  • UK and European equities— Too far too soon? - From depressed levels, UK and European equities have enjoyed powerful rallies this winter as both regions avoided crises. Still, it would be prudent not to be overly optimistic, as higher interest rates impact economies with a lag. We explore the portfolio implications.
  • Regional developments: Bank of Canada provides context on monetary policy; As the U.S. labor market powers ahead, what’s next for the Fed?;
  • Bank of England and European Central Bank approaching end of hiking cycles; More accommodative Chinese policies to come

More here: That weekly piece Mark sends me on Fridays but I haven’t read so far because… what am I, an insomniac?

And lastly, economic news has been quite positive lately, but can this recent trend persist? RBC Global Asset Management’s Chief Economist weighs in with his monthly analysis here. Yeesh! I was bored in the first paragraph -- still he sends more!

Looks like somebody figured out how to edit hyperlinks in word.

It’ll pass.

Enjoy your weekend!
