Our Thoughts

Amid the first few signs of spring we have been taking stock of the whirlwind that has been the last few weeks. The curve has been flattening, and governments have cautiously been developing criteria for reopening their economies and both of these things have given a boost to the markets. Our team is finishing week six of work-from-home and like many of you, we have begun adjusting to this new normal. We hope you are staying safe and finding avenues for entertainment, creativity and connection during this time.

For those that need additional financial support owing to business/employment interruption (for either yourself or a family member), we have linked below to a summary guide on available support measures introduced by the federal government.

This week’s market update & “10 Minute Take” episode topics highlight some optimism around the timeline for re-opening economies around the world, while digging deeper into the oil crisis and other lingering risks that are still present

Long read - Global Portfolio Advisory Committee Market Update

The rate of new COVID-19 infections appears to be slowing in North America and Europe, and equity markets have made up some of their lost ground. But even as markets anticipate that major economies will start to reopen sooner rather than later, the historic plunge in the price of crude oil highlights the complex challenges facing major economies. Our Portfolio Advisory Group appraises the evolving situation and the implications for equities. Please take some time to review this three page market update.
