I feel privileged to work at RBC Dominion Securities where our world class Capital Markets team not only keeps us informed on what is going on in the markets today but also regularly publishes insightful and thought-provoking reports on trends they are seeing.  In a recent report "RBC ImagineTM: Imagining the Informed Consumer" they re-address some themes they introduced in their 2019 publication: Imagine 2025 - The Consumer Edition.

What is evident is that the global pandemic of 2020 accelerated many of the trends they highlighted, "a global pandemic that affected the entire world (Escalating Uncertainties); entire industries suddenly having to pivot to meet sudden increases or decreases in demand (Agility Imperative); the largest and most sudden single shift to remote work in history (In Cloud We Trust); and the global collaborative effort to overcome it all (Collective Action).... and an increased interest in knowing all of the details about one’s self and health (Calibrated and Augmented Self)."

The Calibrated and Augmented Self

Massive strides in technologies have made portables and wearables available and more accessible to the individual.  Heightened interest in nutrition and health has spurred the demand of "Fom medical to me".

While the evolution of devices is matched to the increased desire for information by the consumer:

The report discusses the above trends and more...and interesting and quick read found here.
