"Sell In May And Go Away"

Years ago I recall hearing the cliche "Buy when it snows, sell when it goes". This implies we should buy equities in say November, and before Christmas/Hanukah, and then sell, generally, in the spring.  Although, the Toronto weather is cold in the spring as well, so I guess we should then be holders of equities based upon this seasonality?  Of course we should always, my wife would concur on both fronts - both that the spring is cold, and that long-term equity thinking is the key to investment success. While there is evidence to suggest the markets weaken over the spring and summer months and into the fall, especially September and October where equities have seen some of their worst times, "time in the market", rather than "timing the market" is a far more proven and successful investment strategy.  So while I'm tempted to "time the market" and "sell when the cold goes", whenever that may occur, currently I'm seeing some very interesting bargains, and buying opportunities for new money with predictable upside for these names.

Feel free to call me directly for some interesting buying opportunities.
