Senior Portfolio Manager
Beginning his career as an Investment Advisor at the age of 22, Jonathan MacNaughton has spent every year since preserving his clients’ wealth and growing The MacNaughton Lynch Group into one of the top advisory teams in the nation.
Jonathan attributes his early start in wealth management to his father’s entrepreneurial wisdom. A business owner himself, Jonathan’s father encouraged him to start his first business at the age of 16 and apply the same grit and passion to whatever career he might choose. It did not take Jonathan long to decide that building relationships with clients and having the ability and freedom to help them would be the ideal career for him. “From my first day as an Investment Advisor and onward,” he will tell, “I never considered any other career.”
Making a name for himself as a leading tech industry expert, Jonathan, over time, evolved his practice to incorporate the all-encompassing wealth services that our clients have come to appreciate. Today, he applies his expertise as a Portfolio Manager and 25 years of experience to steward assets on behalf of individuals and institutions. Jonathan enjoys learning from our diverse group of affluent clients, all experts in their own fields. A passionate and dedicated leader, he considers reading earnings reports and monitoring market movement a welcome part of how he looks out for your investment interests.
Born in Breslau, Jonathan currently lives in Waterloo with his wife, Kendra, and four children, Max, Ella, Georgia, and Nora. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing and landscaping, and is committed to giving back to his community as chairman of the investment committee of St. Paul's University College at the University of Waterloo.
Associate Portfolio Manager & Investment Advisor
Our clients’ roadmaps to wealth are their individualized investment policy statements, which reflect who they are, their goals, and their risk comforts. Ryan Lynch ensures each client stays on course for their unique objectives, work that is constant and continual, both on the front lines and behind the scenes. Relying on the expertise that comes from his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, he maintains optimal asset allocation for all of the MacNaughton Lynch Group portfolios. Additionally, Ryan assists Jonathan in developing comprehensive investment strategies, research, and portfolio construction through our Private Investment Management program.
Ryan joined the team in 2010, after earning industry experience as an Investment Consultant at another large investment firm. In that role, he developed a people-first approach to building wealth for his clients – Ryan’s philosophy is “to earn our clients’ trust through consistent hard work and transparency.” But Ryan’s path to wealth management began long before then, at his childhood dinner table in Waterloo, listening with fascination to stories from his father, Ed Lynch. He wanted to keep learning more and felt certain it was the career for him.
Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Wilfrid Laurier University, in addition to the CFA designation. While at Laurier, he played for the varsity football team, which won a Vanier Cup in 2005.
Ryan currently lives in Kitchener with his wife, Hayley, and they enjoy staying active and exploring their local area.
