Jon Potter provides customized discretionary investment management services to individuals, families, businesses, trusts and foundations throughout British Columbia.
Prior to joining RBC PH&N Investment Counsel in 2014, Jon held research analyst positions servicing government agencies and institutional investment management firms in addition to spending five years in the information technology sector.
Jon works closely with a select group of high-net-worth clients to develop a deep understanding of their unique needs, circumstances, and preferences. Through indepth and personalized discovery, Jon develops individual investment strategies and comprehensive wealth plans tailored specifically to each client.
Investment Counselling goes well beyond just making the day-to-day investment decisions on behalf of clients. Jon brings a broad internal team of accountants, lawyers, portfolio managers, analysts, and estate planning specialists to ensure all areas of his clients’ wealth are considered. These areas include minimizing taxes, retirement and financial planning, business owner and succession planning, risk mitigation strategies, and estate/legacy planning. Jon then works closely with his clients’ existing professional advisors to ensure they receive an integrated wealth management experience.
Being a strong believer in community engagement, Jon regularly mentors university students, fund raises for the United Way and BC Cancer Foundation and volunteers with CFA Society Vancouver's Social Media Committee. Originally from Winnipeg, Jon now resides in Vancouver with his wife, Madelaine.
Jon holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from the University of Winnipeg and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree specializing in global markets from the University of Victoria. Jon is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder and holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
