RBC's portfolio advisory group was out with an interesting take on post-recession market behavior this afternoon. It was not on my "blogdar" (ok, I made that one up), but it was really too good to pass up, so here it is.

The market drop earlier this year was so staggering that it shook the confidence of even the most seasoned investors. Staying the course was virtually impossible for many investors, but perhaps a harder decision awaits us in the future.......now what?

While the comeback from markets seems nothing short of mind-blowing, it has actually been on par with the recovery coming out of the March 2009 lows......so we've kinda been here before. The chart below looks at US recession induced selloffs since 1945, and what happened in the following 3 years after. If you would like more context around these numbers, give me a call and I'll share all the data with you.
