Howard Tingley, BBA, CIM - Senior Portfolio Manager & Wealth Advisor
Howard’s love for investments and business led him to the University of New Brunswick where he completed his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1985, focusing on finance and accounting. Since his start in the investment industry in 1990, Howard has continually invested in his business and himself by taking various industry courses, including the Canadian Securities Course, Conduct & Practices Handbook, Canadian Insurance Course, and Options Course. In 2012, Howard completed his Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation and Associate Portfolio Manager designation, followed by the Portfolio Manager designation in 2014. Effective in 2022, he is now a Senior Portfolio Manager and Wealth Advisor.
Over the years, Howard’s philosophy of conservative advice and protection of capital has appealed to a discerning clientele—prudent investors with substantial portfolio assets. Howard is committed to a strong investment discipline and stresses that a balanced, diversified approach will serve to reduce risk and enhance returns over time. Howard has built a well-deserved reputation among his peers as having strong values and integrity, and who is deeply committed to his clients’ best interests. Howard’s main role within the team is managing the day-to-day operations of the business to ensure that his clients’ financial interests are being managed and serviced to the highest degree. He also enjoys developing long-term relationships with his clients, and working closely with them to ensure they have peace of mind.
When not at work, Howard’s main focus is his family and home. Although his four children are mostly grown, Howard and his wife Denise look forward to family gatherings during the holidays and vacations. They also now have the addition of two grand-daughters which keeps life as busy as ever. His property is a work in progress, and it seems that he usually has bigger plans for his gardens and lawns than there is time to manage. In addition a family wood lot means lots of opportunity to start up the chain saw and brush saw. Howard enjoys being active and spends his time hiking, mountain biking, road cycling, fishing, hunting, skiing, snowshoeing and golfing.
Jeff Mahoney, CPA, CA, CFP, CIM - Associate Wealth and Investment Advisor
Jeff joined the Tingley Group of RBC Dominion Securities in 2005 after working in the tax and audit group of a major accounting firm in Moncton. Jeff began his financial career after graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Saint Mary's University. He then went on to achieve his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation, and also completed the "In-Depth Tax Program" offered by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. Jeff also holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation and the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation.Jeff has also completed many industry courses such as the Canadian Securities Course, the Canadian Insurance Course and the Wealth Management Essentials Course. Jeff is currently leading his studies towards more advanced investment management and insurance planning.
Jeff's primary focus within the team is the day-to-day investment management of client portfolios as well as guiding clients through all aspects of wealth management with an emphasis on financial planning, as well as planning for insurance and estates. Jeff also oversees the portfolio investment management for our clients. Jeff is passionate about working wtih individuals, families and business owners, helping them achieve their financial goals. Jeff's educational background and past experience, combined with our firms resources, enable him to help clients get the most after-tax retirement income from the savings they have created.
Jeff and his wife Caitlin have two young children at home, Ella and Ben. On summer weekends, you will likely find them at Caitlin's home farm in PEI. Whenever there happens to be a spare moment in their busy household, you will likely find Jeff doing some form of physical activity.
Philippe Cyr, CFP - Associate Wealth and Investment Advisor
Phil has been with RBC since 2000 and joined RBC Dominion Securities from the Royal Bank Mountain Road branch where he was a Financial Planner. With the Tingley Group of RBC Dominion Securities, Phil primarily focuses on the day-to-day investment management of client portfolios and helping clients work through all aspects of wealth management, including financial & estate planning. Fluently bilingual, he can serve you in both official languages.
Born and raised in a small community in Northern New Brunswick, Phil moved to the Moncton area in 1996 and now lives in Dieppe with his family. A proud father of two boys, Caleb and Nico, Phil enjoys spending time with them playing a variety of sports, and can be found at the local rinks playing and following hockey. In the early hours of the morning, Phil can also be found at Crossfit YQM enjoying his newest passion. Phil is also very active with community events and fundraisers, quick to lend a helping hand. Phil has been an active member of the Dieppe Rotary club since 2005 and was honored with a Paul Harris Fellowship Award in 2010 for demonstrating in his life and vocation a commitment to helping persons in need.
Angela Stuart - Associate
Angela has been employed in various roles with RBC since 1995. Prior to joining the Tingley Group of RBC Dominion Securities, she worked as an Investment Representative at RBC Contact Centre in Moncton, where she developed a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Angela graduated from NBCC Moncton with a business diploma in marketing. She has also completed various industry courses such as the Canadian Securities Course and the Conduct & Practices Handbook.
Angela joined the Tingley Group of RBC Dominion Securities in 2004. Today, Angela's main role within the team is proactive client services such as ensuring portfolio reviews occur on an ongoing basis, updating investment policy statements, overseeing Tax-Free Savings Account and RRSP contributions, etc. She also looks after some of the day-to-day investment management of some client portfolios. Throughout Angela's tenure with the team she has developed strong relationships with our clients as they have come to appreciate her ability to follow through with their requests.
Outside of the office, Angela spends her time with her husband and two children. She enjoys spending her summer days in Caissie Cape camping and walking the beaches, and during the winter months is a devoted and proud hockey mom.
Jessica Berry, CFP, CIM - Associate
Jessica has gained a wealth of knowledge from her experience in various roles of the financial industry since November of 2003, and proudly joined the Tingley Group in July 2015. Jessica has a passion for continuous learning and has completed various industry courses such as the Canadian Securities Course, Conduct and Practices Handbook, Wealth Management Essentials and the Life License Qualification Program (LLQP). She also obtained her Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification in 2020 , and most recently her Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation.
Jessica’s key roles as an Associate is taking care of detailed requests and inquiries for our clients such as providing financial projections, RSP calculations, performing stock and market research and follow through on actionable items discovered in clients Financial Plans and Will & Estate reviews. Jessica will also manages client relationships, as well as the tax communication for our corporate clients and their specific year-end deadlines. Jessica is honoured and excited to be a part of the Tingley Group. Her passion and dedication for the client experience and connecting with people will shine as she strives towards building trusting and long term relationships with our clients.
Outside of the office Jessica enjoys the quality time she shares with her partner Shawn, their family and friends. They love to travel and enjoy experiencing new places. Her happiest moments of growth would usually find her anywhere close to the water, learning the game of tennis or out walking in the local trails. During the winter Jessica enjoys reading a good book, or skiing. Jessica has a strong belief in giving back in the community and has lead teams of fundraising for Canadian Cancer Society and volunteers as a foster family with the Greater Moncton SPCA, by helping take care of some animals who may need extra love and attention to get them healthy enough for adoption.
Joe Linthorne, BComm - Associate
Joe has been with RBC since 1995, and prior to joining RBC Dominion Securities in 2005, Joe was an Investment Representative at the RBC Contact Centre in Moncton. Joe joined the Tingley Group of RBC Dominion Securities in April 2016, and brings with him years of sound knowledge and experience of the Associate role.
Joe's main area of focus with the team is assisting Jeff and Philippe with day-to-day trade transactions related to their portfolio investment management process, as well as the preparation of specialized reports and proposals.
Joe received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Saint Mary's University in 1993, and completed the Canadian Securities Course and Conduct & Practices Handbook in 2005. Joe and his wife Jennifer reside in Riverview with their two sons, Brandon and Zach. Joe enjoys the outdoors whether it's going on canoe and fishing trips, snowshoeing, camping or simply relaxing at the beach with his family.
Melanie Price - Associate
Melanie started her career with RBC in 2005. She spent the first 7 years of her career at the RBC Contact Centre in Moncton as an Investment Representative. Prior to joining the Tingley Group in July 2017, she supported a team of RBC Financial Planners across New Brunswick as a Financial Planning Associate. Melanie received her diploma in Business Management with a focus in Accounting from Oulton College in 2004. She has completed her Canadian Securities Course as well as the Conduct & Practices Handbook.
One of Melanie’s key roles on the team is to be the primary point of contact with our clients, daily managing of clients’ needs, fulfilling varied requests and acting as a liaison with the firm’s back-office department. Melanie is committed to providing an exceptional client experience and is looking forward to building long-term relationships with our clients. As she is fluently bilingual, she can provide service in both our official languages, English and French.
Melanie and her husband Dennis enjoy spending their weekends at their trailer located on the Richibucto River with their two sons, Evan and Nolan. During the summer, they enjoy canoeing along the river. They also enjoy traveling to Corner Brook, NL to visit Dennis’ family.
Ryan Reid, CPA - Associate
Ryan joined the Tingley Group of RBC Dominion Securities in October 2018 after being employed for four years at a local accounting firm in Riverview. Ryan began his career after graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Mount Allison University in 2014. Ryan successfully passed the Common Final Exam in 2017 and obtained his CPA designation in 2018. Ryan has completed various industry courses such as The Canadian Securities Course and the Conduct & Practices Handbook. Ryan is currently working on the Wealth Management Essentials course.
Ryan’s key roles as an Associate are taking care of detailed requests and inquires for our clients such as providing financial projections, RSP calculations, following up on actionable items discovered in clients Financial Plans and Will and Estate reviews, performing stock and market research and also takes care of sending tax information throughout the year to meet corporate year end deadlines. Ryan is also a relationship manager, and looks after some of the relationships we have with families. His experience before coming to RBC and his passion and dedication for the client experience will shine as he strives towards building trusting and long term relationships with our clients.
Outside of the office Ryan is usually golfing with friends, watching Premier League Soccer or in Cambridge Narrows on the lake. Ryan likes to give back to the community by helping with fundraisers such as Relay for Life. Ryan received the 2013 Mount Allison Student Citizen of the year award for his efforts with Relay for Life and also received an award for his contributions to The Canadian Testicular Cancer Association.
Linh Tran-MacDonald, Administrative Assistant
Linh has been with RBC since 2012 where she began her career at the Moncton Advice Center. She took on various roles including an Invest-By-Phone Advisor where she gained a wealth of knowledge and experience. Prior to joining the Tingley Group in November of 2021, she supported the RBC Blue Cross Branch as a Banking Advisor.
Linh graduated from Mount Allison University in 2010 with a Double Major in Psychology and Sociology and a Minor in Commerce. She completed her Investment Funds in Canada Course in 2016. One of her key roles with the Tingley Group is to be a primary point of contact with our clients. She works alongside Melanie to fulfill various requests and acts as a liaison with the firm’s back-office department. Linh is committed to delivering an exceptional client experience and building long lasting relationships with our clients. Linh is fluently bilingual in both English and Cantonese.
Outside of the office, Linh and her husband James enjoy spending their time spare staying active either walking or running on the local trails. They have annual traditions to participate in running events located across Atlantic Canada including the Maritime Race Weekend, Bluenose Marathon, and Marathon by the Sea. Linh also has a strong passion for community involvement. She was the honorary recipient of the Donna L. Purdy Award at Mount Allison in 2010 for her strong academic achievements and contributions to her community. She’s currently an active volunteer with the Greater Moncton SPCA and United Way.
