“Some people see a glass half full. Some people see a glass half empty. I see a glass that’s twice as big as it needs to be.” George Carlin

That’s deep, I think?

As we step into our dystopian day ruled by COVID it is both easy and understandable to fall into a state of funk.  Our freedoms have been stripped, the things we took for granted are now gone … and in their place we have the risk of contracting a deadly virus.  It is no wonder then that we hear so many stories of woe (virtually of course) from those around us.  But have you ever asked the optimists what they think?  How are they dealing with this “crazy new world”?

An optimist might tell you that, “This moment is the biggest opportunity of your life.  You have been given the chance to “live the dream””.  You have been gifted life’s most precious commodity.  You have been given … TIME.

A year ago the idea of having extra time on your hands would have been inconceivable.  Even if it did come along, it would only be for a fleeting moment.  That’s why you didn’t have time to finish school, take those night courses online, explore your artistic side, listen to music, read a book, connect with family members and friends, play an instrument, work on your kitchen skills, go skating, paddle a canoe, camp under the stars (yes you can do that in the winter too), or whatever it is you haven’t had time to do.

Worst case, you could build out your financial plan.  Rather than waiting until you retire and seeing how much you will have to live on, how about telling us how much you want to have when you retire and asking us to prepare a Financial Plan for you?

Stay safe, but above all use your time wisely.  When this is over, what will you have accomplished with all your free time?
