Prior to joining RBC Dominion Securities, I was an oil and gas analyst for one of the prominent investment banks in the US. Over my 20 years in the financial industry, I have learned and made important observations that have shaped how I make financial decisions today.

First and foremost, it's all about managing risk. From my experience, I find most investors paid too much risk relative to their needs. My team and I avoid unnecessary risk by making the asset allocation between stocks and bonds and alternative investments more about what you can live with and less about what's happening in the markets on any given day.

Second, we help you extract emotions from investment decisions. Money and emotions do not mix well. We help clients avoid making emotional decisions by following a disciplined and rules-based investment process.

We recognize no investment firm has a monopoly on the best ideas. That's why our portfolios consist of top investment ideas from six of the leading research teams. And we take the time to educate our clients. We don't expect you to be experts on every investment we own.

Hello. I'm George Manjgaladze, and I'm a portfolio manager at RBC Dominion Securities. Since 2003, our team has been helping investors of all sizes define and execute well-balanced investment strategies. Most of our clients are business owners and professionals who don't have pension plans, so their lifetime savings or the proceeds from the sale of a business or real estate are often the primary pool of capital they'll call upon in retirement.

We know it's vital for our clients that we preserve the capital that took them a lifetime to accumulate. They depend on cash flow from their portfolios and need consistent results to ensure they can keep their comfortable lifestyle in retirement. My team and I built investment and asset allocation strategies around clients' specific long-term objectives. It's more about reaching long-term goals while managing risk and less about outperforming a stock market benchmark in the near term. We strive not just to achieve but exceed our clients' goals, and we do so while avoiding the euphoric highs and nail-biting lows through a strategic, well balanced investment choices.

We believe no single firm can produce superior investment ideas all the time. That's why our investment process relies on research ideas from several prominent sources. We eliminate the guesswork by following a multi-disciplined screening method, drawing on technical, quantitative, and fundamental analysis.

The majority of portfolios we look after are managed on a discretionary basis. Clients delegate responsibility to us for day-to-day investment decisions. Within the stock portion of the discretionary portfolios, clients own the same equities in the same proportion. For example, if Microsoft is 3% of our stock model, it's a 3% allocation across all stock portfolios. We buy and sell proactively and in bulk, so our clients get the same price when we execute the trade, whatever size portfolio they have.

We run high conviction, well-diversified portfolios of 30 to 40 blue-chip, mostly dividend-producing stocks. The portfolio follows a strategy best described as growth at a reasonable price, meaning we focus on stocks that grow consistently faster than the overall economy, while remaining reasonably priced. We believe in remaining humble about investing.
