Thank you ontario farmers

Over the last month and a half we have seen a terrible deadly virus known as COVID-19 change our day to day lives. As this terrible virus has spread across the globe its impact has been felt by everyone as we have been ordered by governments and health officials to stay at home and stop the spread of the virus. For children it has forced them to cancel school, park time, team sports, play dates & proms.  Our seniors living in long term care facilities are no longer allowed to enjoy visits from loved ones. Our favorite sporting events, community gatherings and church services have all been cancelled. No matter who you are or where you live COVID 19 has impacted your way of life and cancelled many plans.

Even though year 2020 may be known as the year of “CANCELLED”, it has also taught us many lessons and given us a whole new appreciation for essentials workers.  While celebrating ALL essential workers, I want everyone reading this to realize there is one profession that hasn’t received as much mention as they deserve. This profession works 7 days a week, can’t be transferred online, and no matter what adversity it faces will not allow a cancellation. These significant and essential workers are Ontario Farmers and I am very thankful for their essential service every day.

Ontario farmers have faced many challenges during this pandemic, and had to make many sacrifices. The general public needs to be aware of the challenges farmers have faced and will continue to face during this pandemic.  Everyday Ontario farmers play such a vital role in making sure we are fed. Their hard work deserves a thank you from each of us, because no matter the crisis, they have always been resilient and responsible for putting food on our table. So as we continue to come together as a community during this crisis, let’s salute all our essential works, including Ontario Farmers.
