World Epidemics and Markets

The current fears of “coronavirus” are rising. Since I started in the financial services industry in 1982, we have had at least thirteen of these on a global basis.

I finally located a chart on the weekend which shows these events and how markets reacted. While not downplaying the seriousness of any of these, or those directly affected, you can see the short-term fears (and negative markets) are usually quickly resolved in the markets.
