In today’s digitally connected world, not everyone is who they claim to be. That’s why we are committed to protecting you and your data.

One of the ways we do this is by communicating with you safely using our new encrypted email solution, RBC Secure Email, which leverages ‘Cisco® Recipient Envelope Service (CRES), a secure communication service.

How does RBC Secure Email work?

RBC Secure Email allows you to read encrypted emails sent to you from RBC - regardless of the device, browser or email provider you use. Emails you receive from RBC containing “RBC Secure Email” in the subject line indicate that the email was protected with encryption during delivery.

If a secure connection is automatically established with your email domain, you will be able to open and read the encrypted email without entering a password. A password is not required as the email was delivered leveraging the same widespread technology used to protect websites, instant messaging, and voice over internet protocol communications.

If a secure connection could not automatically be established with your email domain, you will receive an email notification similar to the image on the right. You will be asked to complete a one-time registration process and create a password. Once your password is created, it can be used to open all secure emails from RBC going forward.
