I am pleased to have recently been certified as a Responsible Investment Advisor through the Responsible Investment Association of Canada (RIA).

My motivation is to help families and organizations achieve their financial goals. This accreditation, or more importantly this approach to investing, is one more tool that I believe adds value to a disciplined approach.

There are many way of being a 'responsible' investor and this segment of the industry is rapidly evolving. What started out as a niche is quickly becoming mainstream and rightly so. Companies that are healthy in terms of environmental, social and governance factors tend to also be healthy in terms of performance. Screening for and investing in these companies is a good business practice when the aim is to enhance the long-term, sustainable performance of portfolios.
