Back at Saint Mary's University Alumni Arena dropping the puck and bringing back memories.

On November 22nd, I was honored to be asked to drop the puck at the Saint Mary’s vs. St FX game as part of 50 years of SMU hockey celebrations. As I reflect back to what hockey gave to me it was the discipline and hard work to focus on a goal and knowing it takes a team to reach milestones.

As a father there is no question that extra curricula activities for kids whether that is hockey, dance or music etc. poses financial constraints on families. On a daily basis we work with the full range from professional athletes to families with two kids and a dog. What is different are their personal goals, risk tolerances and objectives but the process of creating a plan and remaining accountable does not change.

We cannot provide the answer to that specific question for families. What we do help with is providing the knowledge and tools to ensure they are as opportunistic with the resources they have and providing a game plan to help achieve their stated goals.

I believe it is important for kids to chase dreams and learn life lessons along the way.
