Further thoughts on tariffs, interesting Super Bowl statistics and facts, common questions about being an executor, and some positive news (for once!).

Tariffs obviously took centre-stage earlier this week. Notwithstanding the 30 day reprieve, our teams across North America have been hard at work analyzing the (fluid) situation. In addition to a number of stand alone blog posts "around' this post, our RBC Capital Markets team has produced a short podcast "The Aftermath", while RBC Global Asset Management's Chief Economist Eric Lascelles is out with his Tariff Primer 2025. Eric's piece is a deeper dive into the recent tariff announcements, scenarios that could unfold from here, and the associated implications for the economy.

Some interesting notes about this weekend's Super Bowl:

  • 338 pounds, 6 ft 6 in. The average weight and height of the five Philadelphia Eagles starting linemen—the heaviest and tallest in Super Bowl history.
  • President Trump is expected to be at the game, which would make him the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl.

  • If the Chiefs do win their third straight Super Bowl, they’ll be able to use the term “three-peat” after the NFL reportedly licensed it from Miami Heat President Pat Riley, who’s owned the trademark to the phrase since 1988 but has never had a reason to use it (true story).

Have you been the executor for someone's estate? There is much confusion about the roles and responsibilities of the position, and rightly so. Royal Trust's Leanne Kaufman and Bianca Krueger discuss some of the most common questions about being an executor.
