As we head to the end of the calendar year, charitable giving (among other tax-savings strategies) are timely topics. If your giving has been more spontaneous or haphazard, you may want to give some thought to a bigger picture strategy, which may be a better fit for you and your family. RBC Wealth Management's Philanthropic Advisory Services team has prepared this short video discussing some interesting options that could help you create your own personalized giving plan.

The Bank of Canada held its key interest rate steady at 5% this morning, in a widely expected move. The RBC Economics team takes a closer look at the Bank's outlook in a note issued this morning.

My first statistics professor at university recommended a classic book for us to read, "How to Lie with Statistics", which was first published in 1954. It took me almost 30 years to finally read it, but it now sits on my bookshelf. We have so much information presented to us daily, it is difficult to sort the reality  from what is shown to us. Former Bloomberg journalist Noah Smith guides us on How not to be fooled by viral charts. A VERY worthwhile read.

We have spoken previously about the bond (aka fixed income) markets, and how we are positioning portfolios to take advantage of this new paradigm. In this quick (12 minute) podcast, RBC Global Asset Managment's Sarah Riopelle discusses the recent changes to the bond market and why we have been adjusting portfolios.
