Carol has been a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club of Orillia. She is an active member of the club and is a Past President, and also a Past Division Lieutenant Governor. Carol was the recipient of the prestigious Kiwanis Skid Watson Award in 2009.

The Community Foundation of Orillia and Area:  Carol is Past Chair of the C.F.O.A and was involved in the organization for 10 years from its inception, including being Chair of the Investment, Grants and Management Committees.

In 2009, during Carol's term as Chair, the Foundation hosted the Canadian Snowbirds Air Team with a spectacular airshow, parade and numerous events at Couchiching Beach Park, Orillia.

Kiwanis Children's Safety Village: Emergency services groups in Ramara, Severn and Mnjikaning teamed up with the Orillia Kiwanis Club to bring an exciting new project to our community. It is the Kiwanis Children's Safety Village, which is a portable miniature hands-on village, intended to teach our local children safety.  The village is stored in a specially built trailer and transported to the 21 area public schools and to local community events, where the children are able to interact in the village and even drive miniature cars and trains, while being taught how to remain safe in their communities thanks to instruction from trained volunteers.

Carol is one of the driving forces behind this terrific initiative.

Recent statistics show a child is injured every 8 minutes in Canada, and this tremendous community project is intended to reduce or eliminate preventable injury and fatalities through education.

Carol is well-known for her horse activities and competitive riding, and spent four years as President of the Ontario Reining Horse Association, and seven years on the Board, plus sits on the Board of Reining Canada.

With her parents residents of Leisure World, Carol also took on the role of Chair of the Family Council for Leisure World for over four years; and consequently is very familiar with the challenges of caring for elderly parents and the cost of long term care.

In addition to donating her personal time and enthusiasm to many community projects, Carol also supports various projects financially, such as the Orillia Rowing Club, for which she is a Gold Patron, Green Haven Shelter for Women, North Simcoe Victim Crisis Service, the Channel Cats and others.
