Eric conquers the French Alps at Haute Route

Congrats to all those who rode in the RBC Whistler GranFondo this year and thank you to all those RBC'ers who volunteered.  I wasn't able to defend my RBC Yellow Jersey on the weekend as I was in France competing in the Haute Route Alps with my Steed Cycles teammates, Richard Costello, Michael Berkeley, Steve Savage, Matthew Van Nostrand, Ben Sigston, Ryan Golbeck and Clarke Bayles. It was an incredible feat just to get us all on the trip, coordinating careers and families was truly a once in a lifetime occasion that I will cherish for life.

Haute Route Alps (think of the Tour de France for amateurs or doing a Whistler GranFondo Forte for 7 days in a row) covers almost 800km and takes riders up over the most iconic mountain passes in the world, totaling over 20,000m of climbing.

Just as we do with our clients, the team first started with a vision of what we wanted to get out of it (as a team and individually). We then implemented a strategy in our training to give us the highest probability of success . Lastly, we were ready to tactically adjust as the race evolved.

During the week long race I battled up the rankings, finishing on the podium of the M40-49 age category. This wouldn`t haven been possible without some big efforts and sacrifices from the team. Team work makes the dream work and I'm lucky to have amazing teammates on the road and in the office.
