What is RBC Training Ground?
RBC Training Ground is a talent identification and athlete funding program designed to find young athletes with Olympic potential, and provide them with the resources they need to achieve their podium dreams
With the belief that high performance sports should be accessible to all athletes that are talented, qualified and have the will to compete, this program travels the country searching for athletes between the ages of 14 and 25 that will fuel the Canadian Olympic pipeline.
RBC Training Ground in Action
Since it began seven years ago, the program has tested more than 12,000 athletes between the ages of 14 and 25 at free, local events across the country where its national sport organization partners have identified more than 1,600 of them as having Olympic potential.
At each of RBC Training Ground’s events, participants compete in speed, strength, power and endurance testing under the watchful eyes of recruiters from different national sport organizations. This year, those sports range from luge and speed skating to rugby and cycling. The program is clearly working as 13 graduates of RBC Training Ground have competed at two Olympic Games and have brought home seven medals among them.
