On July 26th, 2018, cyclists from the North Shore community came together for another sold out Steed Cycles Expert Cycling Info Session presented by The Eydt Wealth Advisory Group .

As the saying goes, we are what we eat (and drink).  So if we want to be the best we can be, how should we fuel our bodies before, during and after our rides to get the best results?

Nutrition

Sports & Natural Nutritionist, Andrea McDonald gave us great insight on how the body uses different energy systems for different types of rides and how we need to adjust our carbohydrate, protein and fat intake for those different intensity and duration rides. She also gave us various natural food alternatives to sports specific processed products like bars and gels.  For tailored nutrition plans contact Andrea at andreamcdonald.ca

Hydration

Hydration Specialist, Sean O’Mahony of Precision Hydration, educated us on the common mistakes athletes make and how we can avoid them on the bike. We learnt that the electrolyte and fluid combination is very personal and most hydration products try and give a one size fits all solution which is far from ideal. Through a personalized assessment, Sean can help you determine your specific electrolyte need and prescribe a unique hydration plan for you. Learn more at precisionhydration.com.

Our Why

Eric is one of the longest Steed Race Team members and Ride Club Leader volunteers. The goal of these community events is to enhance the experience of the Vancouver cycling community by adding value through education. We believe people should enjoy their money. To achieve this, you must stay healthy, have passions that keep your heart beating and have a strong sense of community. Cycling is a great way to achieve them all.
