Good Afternoon,

Although we often begin these updates by saying "Happy Friday", this weekend we reflect on the anniversary of 9/11. To quote Alan Jackson, "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)"? I'm sure many of you, like me, remember exactly where you were and what you were doing when you first heard the horrible news. Many of us spent hours glued to our television sets. I personally was off that day, and when I looked up at my TV, I thought I was watching a movie. It took several minutes before I realized what was happening was actually real. This was one of the most horrific and memorable events of my lifetime. I drove to my kids' school and pulled them out of class. I brought them home to keep them close as no one knew what was going on in the world.

A little closer to home, Gander, Newfoundland, became the home for many people stranded during 9/11. Today, we worry about Gander as Hurricane Larry is expected to hit Newfoundland this evening. Thinking of them and hoping they all remain safe. Today's Current Account talks more about both of these events.

This week, many of your children and grandchildren returned to school. This will be an adjustment for many families, following the longest summer vacation in recent memory. We wish them all the best in the upcoming year.

The markets gave us a little bit of a vacation this week as well with not much news or volatility.

This week's word of the week comes from one of our clients! The word is serendipity, which refers to a fortunate event happening unintentionally, completely by chance. As the client put it, "it's even fun to say".

Have a serendipitous weekend! Taylor is planning on having a serendipitous week, as he is off until next Friday.
