Good Afternoon,

Happy Friday from Brenda Miller Wealth Management Group. We are all sitting in the office, preparing the weekly e-mail and listening to Christmas music. We are getting ready for our first office holiday event since 2019! When we finish this e-mail, Joel, Taylor, and I will be heading to Leisure Lanes to enjoy some bowling and food with the entire team from RBC Dominion Securities Durham Region. We are looking forward to spending some time with coworkers again.

Since last Friday, the markets have been reacting to Omicron, the new COVID variant. There are concerns that existing vaccines may not be as effective against this new strain. This is causing all governments and WHO (the World Health Organization) to revisit travel advisories. We were seeing relaxed rules and regulations for travel, which was having a positive impact on many industries. Until we know more, we are likely to see increased volatility.

This week's Current Account discusses the expanded eligibility for the third dose of COVID-19 booster shots in Ontario and Alberta. Africa will require 2.2 billion syringes in order to complete all of its vaccinations for 2022. The federal government is releasing its revised economic update on December 14th.

Taylor's word of the week is Palindrome. A palindrome is a word, phrase, number, or sequence of words that reads the same backward as forward. As you may have seen going around Facebook this week, yesterday's date, 12022021, is a palindrome. Other examples of Palindromes are madam and racecar.

Have a great weekend,

Brenda, Taylor, and Joel
