Happy Friday from Brenda Miller Family Wealth!

The Liberal Party has been elected. By winning a minority government, the Liberals earned a fourth consecutive mandate and held off Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives, who only a few months ago held a commanding double-digit lead in the polls. Carney, the former central banker, was ultimately deemed by voters the best choice to negotiate with U.S. President Donald Trump, whose threats weighed heavily on the campaign. The NDP saw a major decline in support, and after failing to win his seat, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh announced that he will resign.

The latest news includes the Canadian economy contracting for the first time in months, Mark Carney telling President Trump “Let’s make a deal” during their first call to secure a new economic and security deal, President Trump watering down U.S. auto tariffs, and the ice bucket challenge making a comeback to raise awareness for mental health issues.

Have a nice weekend,
