Happy Friday from BMWM! This weekend we celebrate Taylor’s milestone birthday, he will be turning 30 years old. If you see him, wish him a happy birthday. Brenda is also celebrating a birthday on the 1st, but she considers it a milestone every time she makes it another year.
We hope that you are having a great week so far. While July and August markets tend to be down in trading with lower-than-normal trade volumes, we also tend to experience a little bit less volatility. As we head into next week, it will be busy with many Canadian companies reporting their Q2 earnings. Inflation worries and further interest rate hikes are less of a concern as well. For more information on the markets, please read our bi-weekly insight below.
The Current Account (click here to read) discusses the topic of global boiling wherein the UN has indicated this July has been the hottest month in recorded history dating back 174 years. The Current Account also covers the interest changes made by the European central bank and Barbie breaking box office records, including the biggest movie opening by a female director.
Taylor’s word of the week is escrow, meaning a financial agreement whereby an asset or money is held by a third party on behalf of two other parties that are in the process of completing a transaction.
Have a great weekend,
Brenda, Betina, Matty, Taylor, and Jacob
